Ethyl 1-aminocyclohexanecarboxylate is a piperidinecarboxylic acid derivative that has potent inhibitory activity against glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK-3) and other enzymes with serine/threonine specificity. It also has potent inhibitory activity against inflammatory diseases, such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin-1β, and lipopolysaccharide. The compound also inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines in macrophages by inhibiting protein synthesis through the inhibition of GSK-3. This compound can be used to treat neurodegenerative diseases and bone resorption.
