5,6,7,8-Tetrahydroquinazoline-2,4-diamine is an insecticide that belongs to the class of quinazolinones. It has been shown to be effective against tumor cell lines in vitro and exocyclic moieties have been identified as potential inhibitors of cancer progression. This compound has also been shown to have anti-tumor properties in vivo and agriculturally. The wittig reaction is a chemical reaction that produces a carbonyl compound from an aldehyde and an amine. Dicyandiamide is commonly used in this type of reaction. The reductive amination is the reverse process of the wittig reaction and converts an amine into an aldehyde by adding hydrogen gas (H2) to it. In this process, dicyandiamide is not needed because it is produced during the reaction.
