4²-(Phenylethynyl)acetophenone is an efficient and recyclable catalyst that catalyzes the coupling of aryl chlorides, bromides, and iodides with phenols. It has been shown to be an efficient catalyst for the aerobic coupling of aromatic compounds with phenols in the presence of palladium(II) chloride. This reagent is also able to catalyze reactions involving polymeric substrates. 4²-(Phenylethynyl)acetophenone is a fluorous catalyst that can be used in conjunction with aqueous media without any need for extraction or precipitation. The use of 4²-(Phenylethynyl)acetophenone as a palladium catalyst offers many advantages over other catalysts, such as high efficiency and recyclability.
