3-(Carboxymethyl)sydnone (3CMS) is a colorless liquid with a faintly fruity odor. It is an organic compound that is used as a precursor to other chemicals, such as 3-chloro-2,2-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)propane (DMP), which are used in the production of polyurethanes. 3CMS is reactive and can be easily hydrolyzed by water or strong bases, such as hydrogen chloride.
