Magnesium phenoxyacetate dihydrate is an organic solvent that is used in the manufacture of polyvinyl chloride. It is also used as a dietary supplement, and has been shown to have heat resistance. Magnesium phenoxyacetate dihydrate is soluble in water and can be reversibly catalyzed by acids or bases. It can be used to make nanosized particles with a pyrithione coating. This agent has been shown to have activity against delaminated protein deposits and transfer of protein aggregates from one membrane to another. Magnesium phenoxyacetate dihydrate also has antibacterial properties, which are due to its ability to inhibit bacterial growth by binding to magnesium-dependent enzymes involved in protein synthesis.
