3-Bromo-2-chloroquinoline is an isomeric compound that has been shown to have anticancer properties. This leads to a change in the permeability of the membrane and leads to the death of cancer cells. 3-Bromo-2-chloroquinoline also binds to nucleophilic sites on DNA, including guanine, adenine and thymine. The molecule can also be synthesized from 3-bromoquinaldine by reacting with chlorine under basic conditions. 3-Bromo-2-chloroquinoline has been found as a natural product in plants such as "Ligusticum chuanxiong" (Chinese lovage).
