LGD-1550 is a novel, orally active and potent small molecule that binds to all-trans retinoic acid receptors (RARs) and activates the expression of genes involved in cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. It has been shown to be effective against various types of cancer including squamous carcinoma, cervical cancer, and multidrug resistant cancers. LGD-1550 has been shown to have potent antitumor activity in animal models of breast cancer, prostate cancer, and melanoma. In these studies, LGD-1550 was administered orally with no observed systemic toxicity.
