2-Methyl-2-(2-methylpropyl)-1,3-dioxolane is a heterocyclic compound that has five carbon atoms. It is a hydrogen bond donor and a ligand. 2-Methyl-2-(2-methylpropyl)-1,3-dioxolane crystallizes in the chiral space group P21/c with one molecule in the asymmetric unit and contains one dihedral angle of 18.5°. The structure of this molecule consists of two benzene rings, an amide group and two methyl groups, which are on opposite sides of the plane of symmetry. This compound has been shown to stabilize the carbonyl group by donating hydrogen bonds to it.br>
It is used as an intermediate for organic synthesis reactions involving dehydration reactions and ring closures, such as condensation reactions. 2-Methyl-2-(2-methylpropyl)-1,3-dioxolane can be synthes
