Bis(2-mercaptoethyl) Ether is a telechelic polymer that is synthesized by the reaction of 2-mercaptoethanol with polyethylene oxide. It has a molecular weight of about 5,000 and is soluble in organic solvents. Bis(2-mercaptoethyl) Ether is a molecule with an ether link between two mercapto groups and can be used to prepare polymers with high degree of branching. Bis(2-mercaptoethyl) Ether also has a high binding affinity for RNA, which allows it to be used as a carrier for other drugs or as an anticancer drug. Structural studies have shown that Bis(2-mercaptoethyl) Ether binds to the A site of ribosomes, preventing the attachment of amino acids to the peptide chain and thus inhibiting protein synthesis. The binding kinetics was studied using the WST-1 assay, kinetic measurements were made by surface-enhanced Raman
