4'-Chloro-4-dimethylaminoazobenzene is a carcinogenic agent that belongs to the class of benzamides. It is a carcinogen that has been shown to be active in both the liver and lungs. The carcinogenic activity of 4'-chloro-4-dimethylaminoazobenzene has been demonstrated in rats by the presence of formyl, monoethyl, and aminoazo groups in the liver and lung, as well as an unidentified methyl group in these organs. This compound is also identified as a carcinogen with incompletely understood mechanisms of action. In animal studies, 4'-chloro-4-dimethylaminoazobenzene showed carcinogenic effects on the skin, lungs, liver, and kidneys.
