N-Cyclohexylguanidine hydrochloride is a chemical compound that binds to glutamate receptors. It is an organic solvent that can be used as a reaction solution in the synthesis of other chemicals. This compound also has neuroprotective effects, which may be due to its ability to reduce reactive oxygen species (ROS) and inhibit lipid peroxidation. N-Cyclohexylguanidine hydrochloride has been shown to reduce the severity of psychosis and depression, as well as improve cognitive function in people with dementia. The drug was found to bind non-competitively to the glutamate receptor and act as a chloride channel blocker.
