3-Amino-4,6-dimethyl-thieno[2,3-b]pyridine-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester is a thienopyridine that belongs to the class of pyridinecarboxylic acids. It has been shown to have cytotoxic effects against human cells in vitro and in vivo. 3-Amino-4,6-dimethyl-thieno[2,3-b]pyridine-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester has also been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in eukaryotic cells by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit. This drug also binds to RNA polymerase II and inhibits transcriptional activity.
