2-Phenylcarbamoyl-1,4-naphthoquinone-4-(4-diethylamino-2-methylphenyl)imine is a fluorescent molecule that has a kinetic data of formation rate. This compound can be used as an optical sensor for the detection of low concentrations of hydrogen peroxide. It is formed by the reaction of 2 phenylcarbamoyl groups and 1,4 naphthoquinone with 4 diethylamino groups. The formation rate is increased by intermolecular hydrogen bonding, copper complexation and fatty acid addition. 2PCNQI also has a high affinity for hydroxyl groups in fatty acids.
