1-Methyl-3-(4-sulfobutyl)imidazolium Hydrogen Sulfate (1MIS) is a salt that is produced from the reaction of hydrogen sulfate and an amide. The structure of 1MIS is similar to that of the amide group. It has been shown to be efficient for radiation protection and providing a radiation shield for items such as food, pharmaceuticals, and electronics. 1MIS can also be used in electrochemical methods, such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The salt is stable in acidic conditions and can be used to produce organic solvents. 1MIS may also be reused after it has been used in one chemical process.
