• Descrizione: IL-12 is a proinflammatory cytokine that is produced by activated T cells and natural killer (NK) cells. IL-12 activates macrophages, which then produce tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and other inflammatory mediators. IL-12 has also been shown to increase the expression of major histocompatibility complex class II molecules on antigen presenting cells, which may be important for activating CD4+ T helper cells. IL-12 is a receptor activator that binds to its receptor with high affinity and specificity. It has been found to inhibit voltage-gated ion channels, ligand binding, and antibody binding in vitro.
