Descrizione:FGF21 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the FGF21 gene. It is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family and was originally identified as an anti-diabetic hormone that regulates glucose homeostasis. FGF21 also has roles in lipid metabolism and regulation of energy homeostasis, such as through its interactions with PPARs, RXRs, LXRs, and other nuclear receptors. The receptor for FGF21 is FGFR1c and it acts as a high-affinity agonist of this receptor. The ligand for FGFR1c is FGF19.
