Dimebolin is a pharmacological agent that has been shown to have minimal toxicity in vivo. It has demonstrated the ability to protect neuronal cells from death, and improve mitochondrial membrane potential, autophagy, and energy metabolism in experimental models of Alzheimer's disease. Dimebon also has significant receptor activity with respect to neurotrophic factors and inflammation.
