2,3-Dihydro-1H-1-benzazepine is a receptor binding drug that has been shown to have inhibitory effects on autoimmune diseases, cancer, bowel disease and chemokines. It also has anti-inflammatory properties in the treatment of infectious diseases, borane-tetrahydrofuran complex, brain infarction and inflammatory bowel disease. 2,3-Dihydro-1H-1-benzazepine is not active against infectious diseases caused by viruses or fungi. The n-oxide can be formed by nitric oxide synthase (NOS) in the body. This compound is thought to cause inflammation by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) activity and prostaglandin synthesis.
