N1-Acetyl-N4-succinoylsulfanilamide is a sulfonamide that belongs to the family of chemicals called sulfonamides. It is an organic molecule with a molecular weight of 220.24 g/mol and a chemical formula of C14H12N2O5S. N1-Acetyl-N4-succinoylsulfanilamide is used as an analytical reagent for the detection of other sulfonamides, which are drugs that inhibit the production of folic acid from dihydropteroate synthase. This prevents the formation of tetrahydrofolic acid, which is required for bacterial growth. The compound also has an antibacterial effect against organisms such as Staphylococcus aureus, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and Mycobacterium avium complex.
