3-Phenylpyridine-2-carboxylic acid is a heterocyclic compound that is a metabolite of picolinic acid. It has been shown to lower blood pressure, and it is also used as an immunosuppressant in the treatment of autoimmune diseases. 3-Phenylpyridine-2-carboxylic acid has also been reported to have anticancer activity and may be useful in the treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases. This molecule can be synthesized by the oxidation of 2,6-dichlorobenzonitrile with hydrogen peroxide.
