inS3-54A18 is a natural compound that inhibits the activity of DNA methyltransferases. This inhibition leads to changes in gene expression and has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in vivo. The natural compound also inhibits the production of angiogenic factors, such as vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF). It is a potential drug target for leukemia. inS3-54A18 is also an inhibitor of toll-like receptor 4 that activates T cells, leading to the release of cytokines such as colony-stimulating factor and leukemia inhibitory factor. In addition, this molecule can bind to epidermal growth factor receptors and inhibit their signaling pathway.
