Methyl 5-cyclopropyl-3-(2-(trifluoromethoxy)phenyl)isoxazole-4-carboxylate is a carboxylic acid that inhibits the transport of bile acids in tissues. It has been shown to be effective in treating cholestatic liver diseases, such as nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, by reducing the synthesis of bile acids. Methyl 5-cyclopropyl-3-(2-(trifluoromethoxy)phenyl)isoxazole-4-carboxylate is an isoxazole derivative that acts on the human liver and other tissues by inhibiting bile acid synthesis at the level of 7α hydroxylase.
