2,4,6-Trimethylanisole is an aromatic hydrocarbon that is used to manufacture a variety of organic compounds. It has the functional group of phenoxy and can be used in the synthesis of 2,4,6-trimethylbenzaldehyde and 2,4,6-trimethylphenol. This compound can also be used as a solvent for organic synthesis. The steric interactions between the alkali metal and trimethylanisole are constant with respect to the amount of alkali metal. Impurities in this compound include nitro groups and hydrocarbons. Trimethylanisole is soluble in liquid phase but insoluble in gaseous phase.
2,4,6-Trimethylanisole has been shown to interact with other functional groups such as carbonyl and hydroxyl groups by donating electrons or hydrogen atoms in order to form new molecules.
