1-(Phenylsulfonyl)-1H-benzotriazole is a corrosion inhibitor that is classified as an acidic inhibitor. It is used to protect metal surfaces from corrosion. The mechanism of action of 1-(phenylsulfonyl)-1H-benzotriazole is based on the electrochemical properties of the metal surface and the adsorption of the inhibitor. 1-(Phenylsulfonyl)-1H-benzotriazole inhibits corrosion by adsorbing onto the metal surface and forming a protective film on it. It also has been found to be an effective inhibitor for copper, which is one of the most common metals in use today.
