Phenylthiohydantoin-alanine is a reactive compound that can be used as a precursor for the synthesis of acetylation. It is also used in the preparation of recombinant proteins and as an analyte for protein sequencing. Phenylthiohydantoin-alanine has been shown to react with fibrinogen, sephadex g-100, and other proteins through acetylation. This compound has been used to react with iodoacetic acid and acid analysis to form chromatographic products. Phenylthiohydantoin-alanine has been shown to react with lysine residues, which are amino acids that are found in peptides and proteins. These reactions have been shown to occur at the reactive site of the compound.
