(2-Hydroxyphenyl)oxidanesulfonic acid (HOPS) is a potential biomarker that has been shown to be elevated in the urine of individuals with bacterial infection. A recent study has demonstrated that HOPS can serve as a biomarker for detecting microbial infection and can be used to diagnose lactococcal infections. The method for detecting HOPS was found to have good sensitivity and specificity.
