It is used as an excipient to give bulk, stability, and solubility to other drugs. 1-[2-(Diphenylmethoxy)ethyl]piperidine has been used as a targetable drug delivery system for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. The drug binds to the fatty acid component of the cell membrane, which can then be localized by magnetic resonance imaging.
