The compound has shown good efficiency in solar cells and has the potential to be used as an efficient linker for organic compounds that are not soluble in organic solvents. This linker is synthesized using a Suzuki coupling reaction and the motivation for this work is to systematically study the effect of substituents on the properties of 5,6-bis(n-octyloxy)-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole.
