2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-dichloropropane is a liquid at room temperature. It is an organic chemical with the molecular formula CHClCHCl. It has a boiling point of −21 °C and its density is 1.02 g/cm³. 2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-dichloropropane has a symmetrical molecule with four different substituents on each carbon atom. It can be found in tetrahydrofuran (THF) and can be easily separated from other compounds using phase chromatography. This compound is used to make the Covid-19 pandemic drug for the treatment of influenza A viruses.
