Sodium 5-Oxopyrrolidine-2-carboxylate is a chemical compound with clinical relevance. It is an antibiotic combination that is used to treat skin infections. Sodium 5-Oxopyrrolidine-2-carboxylate has been shown to have a good clinical effect in the treatment of acne. It is also used in the treatment of skin ulcers, wounds, and burns. This drug is also used as a topical antiseptic and disinfectant for minor cuts and scrapes. Sodium 5-Oxopyrrolidine-2-carboxylate inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit and preventing protein synthesis. The thermal expansion of sodium carbonate can be decreased by adding sodium 5-oxopyrrolidine-2-carboxylate, dimethyl fumarate, or sodium citrate. Sodium 5-Oxopyrrolidine-2 carboxylate has been shown to inhibit glycol oxidation which
