5-Aminoquinoxaline is an organic compound that belongs to the class of monomers. It has been used as a synthetic intermediate in the preparation of polymers. 5-Aminoquinoxaline can be polymerized with other monomers and undergoes electropolymerization to form poly(5-aminoquinoxaline) (PQ). The nmr spectra of 5-aminoquinoxaline show signals for hydroxyl groups, phenyl groups, and glyoxal. In addition, chloride ions can be found in the molecule by taking advantage of its biphenyl structure. 5-Aminoquinoxaline also has fluorescence properties, which can be seen at nanomolar concentrations.
