5-Amino-1-[2,6-dichloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-4-ethylsulfonyl]pyridinium (5ADS) is a pesticide with an amide structure. It has been shown to have synergistic effects with other pesticides, such as dichlorvos, and show high resistance to insects. 5ADS also inhibits the nitrite ion reductase enzyme in the liver of rats; this inhibition leads to an increase in the levels of reactive oxygen species. 5ADS is metabolized by rat liver microsomes and detoxification enzymes in the liver, which can be used for analytical purposes. The acute toxicity of 5ADS is low.
