• Descrizione: Enalaprilat is a prodrug that is converted to the active drug enalapril in vivo. It is a potent angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that prevents the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, which leads to vasodilatation and reduced blood pressure. Enalaprilat has been shown to be effective in lowering blood pressure in patients with cardiac insufficiency or hypertension. It also has been shown to decrease the production of endogenous bradykinin, which acts on its receptor B2, leading to vasodilatation and reduced blood pressure. The most common side effect of enalaprilat therapy is cutaneous reactions such as erythema, rash, or pruritus.
