6-Aminobenzothiazole (6ABT) is a synthetic compound that has been shown to bind to the PBR322 DNA sequence in cancer cells. The binding constants for 6ABT and its analogues have been determined by viscosity measurements, binding experiments, and x-ray diffraction data. 6ABT has been shown to be a potent anticancer agent in vitro against human breast cancer cells MDA-MB231 and MCF-7. 6ABT has also been shown to inhibit the growth of tumor xenografts in mice with human breast cancer. The pharmacokinetic properties of 6ABT have been studied using the mercaptoacetic acid method. It is found that 6ABT is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and eliminated through renal excretion.
