4-Amino-N-pyridin-2-ylbenzamide is an analog of the amino acid L-arginine. It has been shown to have therapeutic effects in various autoimmune diseases, such as multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis. 4-Amino-N-pyridin-2-ylbenzamide is a competitive inhibitor of the enzyme lipid kinase, which converts phosphatidylethanolamine into phosphatidylcholine. This drug has also been shown to be effective against cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. 4-Amino-N-pyridin-2-ylbenzamide is metabolised by cytochrome P450 enzymes, especially CYP1A2 and CYP3A4, resulting in its active form 4-(trifluoromethyl)benzoic acid (TFB).
