2-Amino-2,3-dimethylbutanenitrile (ADMB) is a pyridinedicarboxylic acid that can be found in the environment. ADMB is formed through the aerobic or anaerobic degradation of butyronitrile. It has been shown to have a detrimental effect on microbial growth and is used as an inhibitor in wastewater treatment. ADMB also has catalytic properties and can undergo acylation reactions with carboxylic acids, which are important for many biochemical processes. This compound's fluorescence properties make it useful for analytical purposes, such as gravimetric analysis.
