2-Amino-5-bromo-3,4-di-cyanopyrole is a potential anti-cancer agent that has been studied for its ability to selectively kill cancer cells. This compound was found to have the highest cytotoxicity against prostate cancer cells in a molecular modeling study. The mechanism of action for 2-amino-5-bromo-3,4-di-cyanopyrole is debromination and chloride ion release, which leads to cancer cell death. 2 aminobroamino 5 bromo 3 4 di cyanopyrole has also been shown to be active against herpes simplex virus type 1, which is an important causative agent of genital herpes.
