(6R,7R)-7-Amino-8-oxo-3-(1-propenyl)-5-thia-1-azabicyclo[4.2.0]oct-2-ene-2-carboxylicacid is a lipase that can be immobilized on a support material or hydrolyze amides to form carboxylic acids. This enzyme is used as an extractant in the clarification of fruit juices and wine. It has been shown to be effective in the hydrolysis of cefadroxil and cefaclor, two antibiotics, as well as other compounds with similar structures. The enzyme is also able to catalyze acidolysis reactions, which are important for industrial synthesis of organic molecules.
