3-Acetylamino-5-nitrobenzoic acid is a cytotoxic compound that binds to DNA, alkylating bases such as adenine and guanine. It has been shown to be effective in vitro against mutant cell lines, with the cytotoxicity being increased when the cells were incubated in the presence of unlabelled 3-acetylamino-5-nitrobenzoic acid. This compound has also been shown to cause cross-linking of DNA strands and inhibit cell growth.
