2-Acetoxybenzoyl chloride is a chemical agent that has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). It is thought to work by blocking the PD-L1 molecule, which is a cell surface receptor for B7. This receptor plays an important role in the immune response and disease activity. 2-Acetoxybenzoyl chloride has been shown to be active in a number of different animal models, including squamous carcinoma, acute toxicities, and congestive heart failure. The drug also inhibits tumor growth when used in combination with platinum-based chemotherapy or radiation therapy. 2-Acetoxybenzoyl chloride is also believed to have antiinflammatory effects due to its ability to inhibit acetylsalicylic acid production in human serum.
