4-Amino-n-[2-(diethylamino)ethyl]benzamide is a methyltransferase inhibitor that binds to the ryanodine receptor and blocks the release of calcium from sarcoplasmic reticulum. It has been shown to reduce the severity of myocardial infarcts in mice by preventing cell death and reducing inflammation. 4-Amino-n-[2-(diethylamino)ethyl]benzamide has also been used as a therapeutic agent in humans, with promising results. This drug is approved for use in Japan, but not yet in the United States.
