N-Acetyl-D-phenylalanine is a synthetic amino acid that is used as a building block in the synthesis of peptides and proteins. It is produced by the Friedel-Crafts reaction between benzene and acetic anhydride, which results in formation of the molecule with two phenyl groups. N-Acetyl-D-phenylalanine has been shown to react with water molecules to form supramolecular complexes, which may be immobilized for use as catalysts for chemical reactions. The rate of this reaction depends on the concentration of carbon source and substrate concentration.
