4-Aminoazobenzene-4'-sulfonic acid sodium is a synthetic molecule that has been used as a diagnostic agent for detecting the presence of proteolytic enzymes and as an analytical reagent for the determination of transition metal ions. It has also been used in the synthesis of pesticides, such as ammonium nitrate. 4-Aminoazobenzene-4'-sulfonic acid sodium is also a component of some chromatographic techniques, such as gas chromatography. In addition to being used in research, 4-Aminoazobenzene-4'-sulfonic acid sodium has been studied in relation to heart disease and neurodegenerative diseases.
