3-Amino-6-chloro-4-phenylcarbostyril is a sulfonyl chloride that has been used to synthesize antimalarial drugs. It is also used to prepare diazomethane, which is an organic compound that can be used in the synthesis of other compounds. 3-Amino-6-chloro-4-phenylcarbostyril is soluble in water and has a melting point of about 170°C. The reaction between 3-amino-6-chloro-4-phenylcarbostyril and diazomethane produces chloral hydrate, which can be converted into a number of derivatives such as acetyl, acylation, condensation, anhydride, or acyl derivatives.
