N-(4-Aminobutyl)-2-naphthalenesulfonamide hydrochloride is a reactive sulfonyl chloride that has been shown to be an antagonist of nitric oxide. It also inhibits the activity of the enzyme calmodulin, which is involved in protein kinase C activation and gene expression. N-(4-Aminobutyl)-2-naphthalenesulfonamide hydrochloride has been shown to be carcinogenic in rats and mice and is only used for research purposes. This drug also inhibits phenothiazine synthesis, which may have therapeutic benefits for schizophrenia.
