L-2-Aminomethylphe dihydrochloride is an opioid analgesic that belongs to the class of mu-opioid receptor antagonists. It is a synthetic derivative of phencyclidine, which exhibits stereoselective binding to the μ-opioid receptor and has been shown to have a skeleton similar to morphine. L-2-Aminomethylphe dihydrochloride acts as an antagonist of the μ-opioid receptor, preventing it from activating. This drug has been shown to be effective in reducing pain when administered orally, intravenously, intramuscularly, or subcutaneously and is being investigated for use in treating postoperative pain and chronic pain related to cancer.
