5-Amino-N-benzyloxycarbonylpentanol is a linker that repairs damaged DNA by binding to the 5'-hydroxyl group of the sugar backbone. It also binds to DNA ligands and has been shown to inhibit cell proliferation in resistant cell lines. This compound is toxic to cells and can cause DNA damage and strand breakage, which may be due to its ability to react with guanine nucleotides. 5-Amino-N-benzyloxycarbonylpentanol is an analogue of diaminopentanediol, which has been shown to be more effective than other analogues in inducing G2/M arrest, down regulating cyclin B1 and CDK2 expression, and inhibiting the growth of breast cancer cells.
