Ammonium hexafluorosilicate is a compound with the chemical formula NH4[SiF6]. This substance is widely used in analytical chemistry as an absorbent for hydrogen fluoride (HF) and sodium salts. Ammonium hexafluorosilicate has been shown to have a thermal expansion coefficient of about 0.0012% per degree Celsius. It undergoes coordination geometry with the formation of six-membered rings, which can be seen by x-ray diffraction data. The coordination geometry also gives ammonium hexafluorosilicate its water vapor permeability. This material has been shown to inhibit epidermal growth factor, which may be due to its inhibition of mammalian tissue and fatty acid synthesis. Ammonium hexafluorosilicate also has the ability to control electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
