- Pyridine, 2-amino-3,5-dibromo-
2-Amino-3,5-dibromopyridine is a low detection compound that has been detected in wastewater. It is used as a nitrogen source in the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. 2-Amino-3,5-dibromopyridine can also be used as a ligand to stabilize metal ions and has been found to have a linear range from 0.1 to 1 mM. The compound is stable under both acidic and basic conditions and can be easily purified by filtration or extraction. 2-Amino-3,5-dibromopyridine has been synthesized using nitrogen atoms obtained from deammonium nitrate or ammonia gas with sulfuric acid catalysts. It is stabilized with hydrogen bonds in a vessel that contains two layers of molecules, one layer being hydrophilic and the other being hydrophobic.
