C.I.Azoic Coupling Component 46 is a coagulating agent that belongs to the group of diazo coupling components. It has an active site that can be described as uridine, which is expressed in a number of organisms including fungi and mammals. C.I.Azoic Coupling Component 46 is used for modelling the active site of uridine-dependent enzymes, such as orotate decarboxylase, which catalyzes the conversion of orotic acid to uracil. The molecular modelling also shows that C.I.Azoic Coupling Component 46 can bind to polyvalent cations and dyestuffs with an orotate residue at their active sites, leading to the possibility of using this compound in biochemical reactions to produce new dyes or other substances with pharmaceutical applications.
